Over 12 000kgs of meat were consumed in one day at the braai festival.
Delta Beverages had committed to donate an equivalent amount of meat consumed on the day to Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo and Harare Central Hospitals after the event.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the company’s sales executive, Stanley Muchenje, said one of their core values as Delta Beverages was benefitting the communities in which they operated in and they were proud to be part of such an initiative.
“This ceremony does not only recognise the organisation’s stance on corporate social responsibility, but also rewards our patients this Christmas with meat brought to them by our consumers of Castle Lager, which makes this event a pleasure to be part of,” he said.
“Our consumers saw the need, and came in numbers, to support the worthy cause. For every kilogramme of meat consumed at the Castle braai day, Castle Lager was to donate an equivalent kilogramme of meat split equally between Harare and Mpilo hospitals.”
Muchenje said their participation in the Castle Lager braai day afforded them an opportunity to positively impact on the health sector.
