Bulawayo police have arrested one of their alleged most wanted con artists who had been on the run for the past four years.
The suspect, Willie Kapenya, appeared in court last week facing charges of stealing a motor vehicle and car parts.
He was remanded out of custody on $100 bail for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle and out of custody on his own cognisance for stealing car parts.
Charges against him are that in April 2009, Kapenya borrowed a car from Manfred Nhemachena, his friend, to use for a week.
However, after the lapse of a week he did not return the vehicle, an Isuzu KB until Nhemachena made a follow up.
He allegedly advised him it had developed a mechanical problem and he was going to return it once it had been fixed.
Nhemachena later left for his base in South Africa leaving the vehicle in the hands of Kapenya.
However, during his absence Kapenya stripped the vehicle and sold parts to various people reducing the vehicle to a shell.

When Nhemachena returned in August 2010 he discovered what had happened and asked Kapenya about it, but he promised to replace it.
Kapenya allegedly duped Nhemachena of another vehicle a Toyota Corolla which he allegedly sold in Masvingo without the owner’s knowledge.
He later went on the run after Nhemachena pressed him demanding his vehicles.
