War Veterans Ministry permanent secretary Clive Mphambela, has died following a car accident in Chivhu last Thursday.
Mphambela, who is a former Zimbabwe Independent journalist, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
He was 51.
Reports said Mphambela was on his way to a work seminar in Masvingo when the vehicle he was travelling in crashed into a stationary vehicle near Chivhu along Masvingo road.
He had been in a coma since the accident until he passed away yesterday morning on his 51st birthday.
Mphambela served as an advocacy officer for the Bankers Association of Zimbabwe and as a senior business reporter for the Zimbabwe Independent.
Colleagues and friends have expressed deep sorrow at his passing, highlighting his dedication, professionalism, and the significant void his absence will leave in the spheres he influenced.
Zimbabwe Union of Journalists Secretary general Perfect Hlongwane paid condolences to the family and media fraternity.

"We are quite saddened by the passing of a colleague,” Hlongwane said.
“Everytime when we lose a colleague, it is the sector that suffers and even though he had moved elsewhere, he remained our colleague.”
Zimbabwe Independent editor, Faith Zaba, said she was saddened by Mpambela’s death.
“Clive was not only a respected financial and business reporter, but also a cherished colleague and a valuable contact when he transitioned to the Ministry of Finance,” Zaba said.
"I worked with him for many years at the Zimbabwe Independent, where he left a huge mark.”
She said working with Mphambela was an honour.
“His dedication, professionalism, and insightful contributions were truly commendable, and he made a significant impact in both journalism and public service,” Zaba said.
“His integrity, intelligence, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“He was a beacon of excellence and a source of inspiration to many, including myself.”
