The People's Unity Party (PUP), led by South African-based politician Herbert Chamuka, has announced a shift in its political branding, changing its signature color from blue to green.
This move comes amidst political realignment in Zimbabwe, following Nelson Chamisa's departure from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the formation of his own blue-colored party.
Chamuka explains the decision as a practical adaptation rather than an attack on Chamisa's choice. "We fight for our country's betterment, not personalizing colors," he said.
"Now that Chamisa has adopted blue, we move forward with green, representing hope and our ongoing struggle."
Talking to this publication, Chamuka said the PUP's color change signals broader ambitions.
Chamuka, formerly advocating for a Government of National Unity (GNU), sees an opportunity to build a “green movement” uniting various political force.
"Even with Chamisa's departure impacting our GNU plans, we remain committed to national unity," he said.
"The green movement, officially launching in April, will push for collaborative solutions to Zimbabwe's challenges."

This rebranding also follows Chamuka's split from the Ideas Party of Democracy (IPD) due to ideological differences.
With a fresh color and ambitious vision, PUP seeks to carve its niche in Zimbabwe's evolving political landscape, Chamuka said.
