Fake gold lands brothers in trouble

The trio, using a Toyota Fortuner, went to Thorn Creek farm Concession to sell the fake gold.

Two Chiweshe brothers are in trouble after they produced an unlicensed firearm to scare away an angry mob that wanted to assault them over fake gold.

The matter came to light at the Concession magistrates court on Wednesday when Tanaka Jaji (25) and Obedience Jaji (23) appeared before local magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

The duo pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm.

Nembaware granted them $30 000 bail each.

Prosecutor Precious Khanye alleged that on December 19, the duo were in the company of their friend Tafadzwa Chirenje, who had fake gold which he intended to sell.

The trio, using a Toyota Fortuner, went to Thorn Creek farm Concession to sell the fake gold.

They approached one Tinashe Makiwa, who discovered that the gold was fake and alerted other villagers.

An angry mob armed with stones and wooden logs teamed up with the intention to assault the trio.

Chirenje managed to escape, but his co-accused pulled a gun from the dashboard threatening to shoot the crowd. —SIMBARASHE SITHOLE
