Zimbabwe is set to host this year’s edition of the Miss Heritage World beauty pageant. Report by Melissa Mpofu
The pageants’ president Venancius Rukero from Namibia is expected in the country this week to meet Zimbabwean license holders of the contest to discuss the issue. If all goes according to plan, the world of fashion, beauty, glitz and glamour will meet Zimbabwe at the pageant.
The pageant is set to coincide with the 20th Session of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly set for Victoria Falls in August. License holder of the international pageant in Zimbabwe, Tare Munzara, confirmed the development.
“Last year, Rukero requested us to host the Miss Heritage World pageant in Zimbabwe,” said Munzara.
“We decided to take up the offer and host it on the sidelines of the UNWTO general assembly. The aim is to promote Zimbabwean tourism,” said Munzara.
The Miss Heritage World pageant will bring together over 60 contestants from around the world.
Contestants drawn from Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, Latin, South America, the Caribbean and Middle East are set to participate.
“The pageant shall embrace and give the world a view of Zimbabwe in many aspects — the beauty of our natural resources and our people.”

The Miss Heritage World beauty pageant was founded by Rukero, a former street child, in Namibia in 2009. The pageant aims to promote tangible and intangible heritage globally using beauty as a platform. Zimbabwe’s Kimberly Cole participated at the inaugural edition of the pageant and came out fifth.
