Nicholas Tshuma (26) appeared before regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza for bail application on Thursday last week. He was remanded to December 19, this year.

A MAN from Luhonjana line in Sipepa, Tsholotsho, has been arraigned before the courts charged with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked a fellow villager for having an affair with his wife.

Nicholas Tshuma (26) appeared before regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza for bail application on Thursday last week. He was remanded to December 19, this year.

Mabeza dismissed Tshuma's bail application indicating that he had resisted arrest, adding that he was facing serious charges that could put him behind bars giving him reason to run away.

Bulawayo regional prosecutor Dominic Moyo opposed bail saying he was not a good candidate.

He said Tshuma had a number of relatives in South Africa hence could flee to the neighbouring country if released on bail.

Moyo argued that Tshuma might interfere with the complainants and unite with the other accused persons that are still unaccounted for.

“If Tshuma is granted bail, he can team up with the other accused who are not yet caught, Dominic Tshuma and Mandla Tshuma and confront the complainant,” the prosecutor said.

It is the State’s case that on October 10 this year, Tshuma allegedly struck Foster Ncube (29) with an axe once on the right side of the head.

Ncube fell on the ground and Tshuma struck him again on the right cheek with the back of the axe and the victim lost a tooth.

A report was made to the police leading to Tshuma’s arrest.
