Old Mutual donated administration equipment on Saturday comprising modular tables, theatre monitors, special beds and static equipment, among others.

Mater Dei board chairperson, Adolf Macheka, called on the corporate sector to emulate Old Mutual to ensure patients receive proper health care.

"With corporate social responsibility from Old Mutual it has made this project move faster, as compared to if Mater Dei hospital had to rely on its own resources," Macheka said.

Mater Dei Hospital chief executive officer and nursing sister, Maureen Jameson, welcomed the donation as timely.

“People are scared of going to hospitals because of traumatic situations they go through, but with this donation, it has created a more friendly environment,” Jameson said.

A representative of Old Mutual, Gladys Lugalo, said “We always want to partner with organisations that care for the community around them.”
