A 35-YEAR-OLD man from Emakhandeni was last week dragged to the courts after he allegedly stole a mining detector worth US$12 000.

Johnson Mungombwe, however, denied the charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa on Wednesday last week.

He was granted US$60 bail and remanded to October 25 for trial.

Mungombwe was ordered to reside at his given address until the finalisation of the case and to report to the Luveve Police Station once every fortnight from 6am to 6pm.

Maphosa also ordered Mungombwe not to interfere with witnesses.

The complainant in the case is Lindiwe Mlilo.

The State alleged that on May 12 this year, Mungombwe and Nomore Mubinda, who is still at large, stole Mlilo’s mining detector.

A report was made to the police and investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of Mungombwe and the recovery of the stolen property.
