HARARE, Dec. 15 (NewsDay Live) — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for Anymore Zvitsva in connection with the killing of five members of the same family at Ona Farm in Guruve last week.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Zvitsva is the prime suspect in the murders.

“The victims have been identified as Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (5), Tatenda Chirenje (2) and Tendai Zvitsva (40),” Nyathi said.

He said initial investigations revealed that a neighbour was awakened by noise coming from the victims’ homestead and responded immediately.

Tendai Zvitsva later died upon admission at Guruve Hospital.

Nyathi said the ZRP has mobilised multiple units to track down the suspect.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has intensified the search for the suspect using drone technology and manhunt teams comprising the Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine Unit, horse patrols and intelligence units to conduct close surveillance in the forest and mountainous areas where the suspect is believed to be hiding,” he said.

He added that members of the community, including traditional leaders, are working with police to ensure the suspect’s arrest.

Zvitsva has also  been  linked to recent murder cases in Zimuna Village under Chief Bepura, where three members of the same family were killed.
