HARARE, Mar. 26 (NewsDay Live) - The National Judicial Council of Vapostori (NJCV) has appealed to various religious groups to pray for unity and peace in the country as well as against all forms of uprisings.
In a statement ahead of the planned March 31 demonstrations, NJCV national director Obey Mapuranga said Zimbabwe deserves long-lasting peace and stability.
Outspoken war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has called for nationwide demonstrations on March 31 to force President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down for fuelling corruption, among other allegations.

“We are appealing for the protection of unity and peace across the nation,” Mapuranga said.
“We are against demonstrations and violence, hence calling for peace lovers to heed this call.”
“This appeal will be cascaded down to membership of indigenous churches so that they will not be enticed to engage in nefarious and unsanctioned activities as purportedly encouraged by some unscrupulous elements who have a bad agenda against an elected government of Zimbabwe.”
He added: “As NJCV, we know that 85,3% of the Zimbabwean population are Christians and 40,3% are apostolic sects. The NJCV is confident that the apostolic sects are a bigger demographic that can influence the quelling of the purported March 31 insurrection by rogue elements who want to cause pandemonium, despondency and acrimony in Zimbabwe.”
