HARARE, Mar.25 (NewsDayLive) -Two suspects linked to the US$74 000 robbery that occurred at tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws farm last week, have been remanded in custody to April 10.

Peter Maramba Vhiya (43) and Takudzwa Maisvoreva (24) appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa on Tuesday where they were advised to approach the High Court for bail application.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that on March 18 the two, along with their accomplices who are still at large, stormed into Chivayo in-laws' Alpha and Omega Farm in Marondera .

They allegedly confronted the security guard identified as Petros and assaulted him with iron bars.

The court heard that the robbers tied Petros’ hands and legs with cable ties before forcing him into the farmyard.

They allegedly disarmed another guard of his CBC shotgun, and frogmarched him to where the third guard was stationed.

The court heard that the robbers tied the guards with cable ties, broke the screen and kitchen door of the main house before storming into Gerald Muteke's bedroom.

Fearing for his life, Muteke surrendered US$18,000 in cash, a loaded Sarsilmaz pistol, and two Samsung smartphones (S23 and US$24).

The armed robbers moved to Vimbai Muteke’s bedroom where they demanded cash and keys for the safe.

Vimbai allegedly handed over US$1,100, key for the safe and a Samsung Galaxy A35 phone. Inside the main bedroom safe, the robbers collected US$55 000.

The armed robbers then met with Elphas Maruta who was armed with a loaded 303 rifle.

A shootout soon broke out, with Maruta fired two shots and the suspects fired back three shots.

The suspects eventually fled with US$74600 in cash and valuables. Police later recovered stolen property worth US$3 800.

On February 25, the suspects struck again in the same area, broke into complaint, Cossam Siminya's house, stole US$10 000 cash, several mobile phones, groceries and other valuables.

The suspects confronted another resident, Jane Manokore, stealing a 49 inch Samsung television set, US$700, a cellphone, and other valuables.

They allegedly raided a tuckshop on the property, and assaulted one Bosco Chidukudze before stealing a small Samsung cellphone.

The total value of goods stolen in the second robbery was US$13 220, and nothing was recovered.
