Polygamous child rape suspect nabbed In Beitbridge

Acting on a tip-off from a concerned villager, police pounced on the polygamous traditional healer on Monday morning.

BEITBRIDGE, Mar 24 (Newsday Live) – Beitbridge police have arrested a traditional healeron allegations of raping and impregnating a 13-year-old child from his neighbourhood in the Chamnanga Village in Beitbridge.

Acting on a tip-off from a concerned villager, police pounced on the polygamous traditional healer on Monday morning.

"We have made the arrest after a worried villager alerted us. The suspect is expected in court soon and we commend this villager who tipped us. People should come forward to assist the police for a crime-free environment to be realized," the officer commanding Beitbridge Police District Chief Superintendent Mesuli Ncube said.

The minor allegedly was abandoned by her mother and had been living with relatives.
