HARARE Feb. 21 (NewsDay Live) – Zimbabwean youth are set to make history with a delegation of five members from International Youth Connect (IYC Zimbabwe) heading to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the fifth edition of The African Youth Leadership Diplomatic Conference (AYLDC5).
Led by Daniel Zinyama, Corporate Affairs Secretary of International Youth Connect, the conference marks a significant collaboration between IYC of Zimbabwe and the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association (EYDPA).
The conference, which will take place from February 23 to 25, aims to launch and refine the Youth Agenda 2055: The Future We Want, as a pioneering Africa-Japan Youth Policy proposal. This initiative focuses on unlocking opportunities for youth across various sectors, including economic development, youth well-being, people-to-people relations, peace and good governance, entrepreneurship, and climate justice.
The conference will bring together young leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss and enhance the Africa-Japan Youth Policy Proposal. The goal is to adopt a transformative policy framework that addresses key areas affecting African youth.
IYC Corporate Affairs Secretary Daniel Zinyama told Newsday Live that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Africa's Agenda 2063, and the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) objectives.
“It represents a crucial step toward ensuring that youth voices shape policies that drive sustainable development across Africa and its international partnerships.”
He invited youth delegates from across Africa to submit position papers and participate in drafting resolutions that would contribute to the final version of the policy.
