A GOOD Samaritan, who lost a gun to robbers which they used to commit various crimes, including murder, had his case withdrawn by the State.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) dropped the charges against Job Vambe saying evidence proved that he played no role in the murder in 2019 of Wellington Marongedze of Mabvuku, who was also robbed
The NPAZ withdrew the charges after investigators found no evidence linking Vambe to the case.
Vambe told the investigators that he helped a local businessman, Jealous Samoyo, to fill in forms for possession of a firearm.
Vambe said Samoyo was attacked by armed robbers who stole the gun and used it to commit crimes.
A ballistic report revealed that the gun belonged to Samoyo and he was also arrested despite filing a report for gun theft.
Vambe was arrested last year as an accomplice of the robbers who attacked Marongedze.
It was alleged that one of the accused persons fired a shot into the roof threatening Marongedze and his wife to hand over money and valuables.

Marongedze directed the robbers to his car, where they stole US$1 000 that was in the dashboard.
It was alleged that they then went away, leaving Marongedze seriously injured, after which he was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Marongedze succumbed to his injuries two weeks later.
A cartridge, which was found at the scene of robbery in 2019, was identified by CID forensic and ballistics last year after another robbery committed on June 7 as similar to the one used during the robbery at Marongedze’s place.
