
BEITBRIDGE Feb. 16 (NewsDay Live) - Two Zimbabweans have been arrested by the South African Police Service (Saps) at Thabazimbi in the Limpopo Province, 450 kilometres from the Beitbridge Border Post for alleged possession of 148kg of dagga with a street value of R500 000.
Saps teamed up with local farmers to track the duo, aged 25 and 39 leading to their arrest in the mining town close to the Botswana border.
"Police stopped the truck with a male driver and a female passenger and searched the vehicle. They found the trailers loaded with 106 small bags of dagga, 10 big bags of dagga, and two refuse bags of loose dagga," Limpopo Province Saps spokeperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said in a statement.
"The dagga weighed 148,5 kg, and with a value of nearly R500 000-00. A white Scania truck with two trailers used by the suspects was also seized."

They were arrested on Thursday and are expected to appear before the local magistrate’s court soon, Malesela said.
