THE High Court of Mutare has reportedly cleared its backlog of cases for both the criminal and civil division.

Addressing delegates during the launch of the 2025 Legal Year in Mutare, Supreme Court judge Justice Ben Hlatshwayo commended the achievement.

“I extend my sincerest congratulations to all judicial officers and court staff for their outstanding efforts and dedication to delivering exceptional service,” he said.

“Clearance rates of 100%, 99% and 88% are very high indeed and commendable. Based on that, I do not know what to predict for this high-flying province, as statistics are notoriously tricky in this regard.

“I hope these good statistics will not lead to a reduction in or withholding of, resources allocated to this region on the basis that it is already doing so well with what it has.”
