Teenager in court for murder

Local News
The court heard that on January 13, 2022, Nyamadzawo was with his two suspected accomplices, Prosper Chiyaka and Mike Kholowa, at a shopping centre in Budiriro, Harare.

A TEENAGER from Budiriro high-density suburb yesterday appeared at the Harare Magistrates Courts facing allegations of murder, with magistrate Sheunesu Matova remanding him in custody to January 23 for routine remand.

Mutova also advised Witmore Nyamadzawo to approach High Court for bail.

The court heard that on January 13, 2022, Nyamadzawo was with his two suspected accomplices, Prosper Chiyaka and Mike Kholowa, at a shopping centre in Budiriro, Harare.

The trio allegedly assaulted the now-deceased using a metal chain on the left side of the head and several times all over the body.

The deceased sustained head injuries, bruises on the shoulders and legs.

He eventually died on the scene.

Meanwhile, a Dzivaresekwa man was yesterday sentenced to an effective 15 years in jail for raping his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter.

Moses Jimu pleaded not guilty to the rape charge, but magistrate Loice Mukunyadze ruled that there was overwhelming evidence implicating him to the crime.

Prosecutor Shambadzeni Fungura said sometime in October last year, the minor went to the borehole in the company of her niece.

Jimu called the minor and dragged her into his house, where he sexually assaulted her by fondling her private parts before raping her.

The matter came to light when the minor narrated her ordeal to the niece, who accompanied her to the police, leading to Jimu’s arrest.
