A 23-YEAR-OLD man from Chief Mutasa area has been remanded in custody to January 3, 2025, on a charge of raping his daughter aged 20 months.
Allegations are that the accused, who is the father of the minor, allegedly committed the heinous act on December 17, 2024, while the child's mother had gone to fetch water from a nearby borehole.
The infant's mother returned and went to the bedroom after she heard the baby wailing and encountered the accused person at the door, pulling up his trousers.
She went to the bed where the complainant was lying and discovered that her diaper had been removed. She noticed that the child was bleeding from her privates.
Her husband fled the scene after she confronted him. She reported the incident to the police leading to the suspect’s arrest and he appeared in court on Tuesday.
