FUEL supplier PetroTrade has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification, a globally-recognised standard for quality management systems.

The ISO 9001 is defined as an internationally recognised standard for quality management systems and specifies requirements for such.

Organisations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

It was first published in 1987 by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), an international agency composed of national standards bodies of more than 160 countries.

The current version of ISO 9001 was released in September 2015.

In achieving certification, PetroTrade has made significant strides in expanding its operations increasing its retail network to 106 sites, while introducing an electronic fuel card to streamline services.

PetroTrade board chairperson Michael Dodo said the company had initiated projects such as electric vehicle charging stations in partnership with the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority to align with global sustainability goals.

“We have improved the image of the company regionally and internationally and enhanced customer satisfaction levels,” he said.

“Consequently, through this new approach, PetroTrade has managed to tremendously improve its management systems that have guaranteed delivery of efficient quality services to the nation.

“It has also managed to step forward and increase its visibility and competitiveness in the market.”

PetroTrade chief executive Jasmine Howera challenged the organisation to improve procedures which have served the company well in the past nine years.

“We will also take this opportunity to encourage other stakeholders who are present here to maximise on our various services in relation to the National Standard Board,” she said.

Mutapa Investment Fund official Tendai Chigudu said the certification strengthened PetroTrade’s reputation while opening doors to new opportunities in the global energy market.

“By adhering to its rigorous requirements, PetroTrade has demonstrated its ability to constantly deliver products and services that meet and exceed customer expectations,” Chigudu said.
