A VENDOR appeared in court this week for allegedly trying to kill a municipal policeman.
Farai Yobe was on Monday this week arraigned before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa facing allegations of attempted murder.
Gofa granted Yobe US$200 bail and ordered him to report twice a week at ZRP Mbare Police Station.
It is alleged that Yobe pushed the municipal policeman from a moving vehicle following his arrest.
Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje told the court that on November 7 this year, Themba Maudzo was on duty patrolling in the company of other City of Harare policemen when they met Yobe who was with Raymond Katyaurere selling mazhanje in an open truck.
The court heard that Yobe was then informed of his arrest and told that the City of Harare policemen would escort him to their headquarters.
Yobe's accomplice, who is already on remand, allegedly pushed Maudzo out of the moving vehicle before speeding off.
Chirenje told the court other municipal policemen gave chase with their vehicle but failed to catch up with the two.
