Madzibaba faces motor vehicle theft charge

Local News
Chikosi allegedly handed over a Toyota Hilux GD6 single cab truck and an agreement of sale was made before Tavengwa drove away with the motor vehicle.

COLLET Tavengwa, a member of  the Johanne Masowe YeChishanu Apostolic sect in Marondera appeared in court on Tuesday facing a motor vehicle theft charge.

Tavengwa (40) appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei who released him on US$500 bail and remanded the matter to December 11.

The State alleges that on October 5 this year, Tavengwa, well-knowing that he was not a beneficiary to either of the two Toyota Hilux GD6 single cab motor vehicles donated by Wicknell Chivayo, fraudulently collected one of the vehicles at a car dealership in Harare.

Tavengwa allegedly approached White Stallion Autogroup, a car dealer located in Borrowdale and  lied to Joel Chikosi that he was one of the beneficiaries since Chivayo had not specified the names of the people he had donated the vehicles to.

Chikosi allegedly handed over a Toyota Hilux GD6 single cab truck  and an agreement of sale was made before Tavengwa drove away with the motor vehicle.

The offence came to light when Chivayo made a follow up, leading to Tavengwa's arrest.
