The African Union Office of the Special Envoy on Youth has partnered with Zimtrade to launch the "Make Africa Digital” campaign in Zimbabwe.
A two-day digital training session kicked off in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second-largest city, at the Rainbow Towers during the Zimtrade Annual Exporters Conference.
The Make Africa Digital Campaign is an initiative led by the office of the African Union Chairperson’s Special Envoy on Youth and supported by Google which aims to harness Africa's economic growth through digital transformation, positively impacting various sectors such as health, energy, development, education, transportation, and agriculture.
The campaign recognizes Africa's economic growth and seeks to maximize digital transformation's benefits across all sectors.
AU Chairperson's Youth Envoy Chido Mpemba expressed satisfaction with the campaign's progress.
"We've successfully deployed this initiative in 8 countries so far, which is Ethiopia, Madagascar, South Sudan, Ghana, Senegal, Zambia, Namibia, and now Zimbabwe, training over 4,500 young people to grow their businesses, increase revenue, attract investment, and build sustainable enterprises," she said.
Africa's potential is undeniable, with 70% of Sub-Saharan Africa's population under 30, making it the world's youngest continent. This demographic dividend presents a unique opportunity to drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in the digital space.
