The accused, Talent Munamati (33), was, however, remanded out of custody on US$100 bail and will return to court on November 28 for trial.

AN OK Supermarket EcoCash agent stationed at Kwame Nkrumah Avenue supermarket was yesterday arraigned before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangoso facing a charge of stealing over US$55 000.

The accused, Talent Munamati (33), was, however, remanded out of custody on US$100 bail and will return to court on November 28 for trial.

The complainant in this matter is OK Zimbabwe being represented by Clifford Moyo (49), who is employed as financial services field supervisor.

Munamati was authorised to conduct duties of controlling the OK EcoCash account, and responsible for conducting and supervision of EcoCash money transfers, which include cash in and cash out transactions.

It is said in April this year, Munamati allegedly stole cash from his employer by making unauthorised money transfers amounting to US$30 884 and US$24 777 from OK Zimbabwe EcoCash account to his own EcoCash account.

The court heard that Munamati then converted US$55 661 to his personal use. The offence was discovered on Friday, leading to his arrest.

Rufaro Chonzi represented the State.
