THE Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe has hailed ZB Bank for supporting their tree planting initiative by donating fruit trees to various institutions in Beitbridge.

In a statement, the commission lauded the bank for their assistance in making the town greener and complementing their orchard establishment efforts.

“Kudos to ZB Bank for their incredible support of the Forestry Commission’s tree-planting initiatives,” it read.

“Recently, ZB Bank donated fruit trees to institutions in Beitbridge town, complementing our orchard establishment efforts.”

The institutions that received this support include Beitbridge District Hospital, Beitbridge Mission Primary School, Beitbridge Government Primary School, St Mary’s High School, Welton College Oakleigh House and Lutumba Adventist Secondary.

ZB Bank executive head of group marketing and corporate communications Emilliah Mabika said the initiative was part of efforts by the bank to plant at least 10 000 trees by year end and she said they are currently at 9 000.

“With this initiative, ZB Bank seeks to position itself in communities and ascertain whether we are being purposive and making sure that we deliver what we promise,” Mabika told NewsDay in an interview.

She further went on to say that the bank aimed to engage stakeholders and encourage them to plant trees to create a greener country in each province at a time in the fight against climate change.

“We are looking at sustainability and improving livelihoods, nutritional livelihoods as well as environmental livelihood,” she said.
