TWO more Registrar-General officials appeared in court for fraudulently issuing passports to four Cameroonian nationals.

Tapiwa Hove (38) and Sean Makuku (38), who were jointly charged with Leona Fungai (35), were remanded in custody to today for bail application by Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.

They are being charged with bribery and contravening the Births and Deaths Registration Act.

Lancelot Mutsokoti represented the State.

Four other RG’s Office officers have appeared in court over the same charges.

Three other processing officers at Epworth Registrar’s Offices, who assisted the four Cameroonians, have also been charged for criminal abuse of office.

According to the State, on September 21, the Cameroonian nationals were sniffed out at Beitbridge border post on their way to South Africa by alert Zimbabwean immigration officers after they failed to speak any of the country’s local languages.

The immigration officers then handed the Cameroonians over to the police.
