Danet Manicaland chairperson Wilson Masokowere expressed his gratitude to the Makoni RDC for the gesture.

THE Makoni Rural District Council has partnered with Destiny of Africa Network leading it to avail a piece of land to the property developer in a boost to the provision of affordable housing to home-seekers.

Addressing hundreds of the low-income housing beneficiaries in Nyazura over the weekend, Danet Manicaland chairperson Wilson Masokowere expressed his gratitude to the Makoni RDC for the gesture.

He said the council was impressed by its projects in Mutare and other parts of Manicaland province, adding that the piece of land comprises 483 stands.

“The projects in Nyazura started through the Makoni Rural District Council, they were quite impressed with our projects in Mutare and they invited us and gave us a piece of land with 483 stands and we have started servicing them,” Masokowere said.

“I am happy that our clients are also appreciating the work we are doing. We have already changed the area, we have 83 pipes for sewers and we have managed to do some work in a short space of time.”

Masokowere said Danet hoped that the area would be a fully established suburb by the end of the year.

“We have started the servicing of stands and we are currently done with the sewer lines which is one of the most difficult parts of the project,” he said.

Masokowere commended the government for its support during the year and affirmed Danet’s continued collaboration in providing housing stands to those in need.

Some of the beneficiaries include vendors, the disabled and civil servants who have already started to pay for the land.

The co-operative’s efforts have positively influenced the lives of numerous individuals and communities in Manicaland.

As Danet looks ahead to the coming year, Masokowere’s plea for additional land reflects the organisation’s determination to continue its mission of providing  affordable housing.
