A CASE in which former Harare chief building inspector Roy Nyabvure is facing a charge of criminal abuse of duty has been postponed to November 7.

A CASE in which former Harare chief building inspector Roy Nyabvure is facing a charge of criminal abuse of duty has been postponed to November 7.

Nyabvure faces a charge of unprocedurally approving a building plan for businessman George Katsimberis.

The plan was used to build a showroom that was demolished by the City of Harare.

Allegations are that on February 23, 2017, Nyabvure approved the building plan for stand number Number 19559 Harare Township, otherwise known as 19559 corner Teviotdale and Whitwell Road.

It is alleged that the building plan had been directly submitted to him by Katsimberis.

Katsimberis was a construction partner at one of Pokugara Properties’ sites.

It is alleged that Katsimberis presented the approved plan to Pokugara Properties, allegedly misrepresenting that it had been duly approved.

Acting on the alleged misrepresentation, Pokugara Properties sanctioned the construction of the showroom on the said stand.

After the completion of the building, Pokugara Properties was served with a notice of demolition by the City of Harare because the structure had been constructed without an approved plan.
