The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the sentencing in a statement on Monday.

A 23-YEAR-OLD Shurugwi man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for murder after he fatally stabbed a fellow imbiber at a local bottlestore in May last year.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the sentencing in a statement on Monday.

The NPAZ said sometime in May last year the accused Tinashe Dycool Mawere and the now-deceased, aged 25 at that time, were at Taona bottle store at Chinho Business Centre in Shurugwi when a quarrel broke out between them, later degenerating into a fistfight.

In the ensuing melee, Mawere stabbed the now deceased with an okapi knife several times.

“The deceased died upon arrival at the hospital,” said the NPAZ.
