Local News
The duo appeared before Lupane resident magistrate Barbra Phiri and was remanded in custody to September 12 this year for trial.

TWO men from Harare allegedly duped a man from Insiza by exchanging his Itel mobile phone for a fake Samsung Galaxy S20 handset and asking him to top up with US$60.

They allegedly hoodwinked him into believing that the phone was genuine.

Edwin Kavumbura (26) and Marshal Mapfumo (28) were arrested and charged with fraud.

The duo appeared before Lupane resident magistrate Barbra Phiri and was remanded in custody to September 12 this year for trial.

Siziba fell into their misrepresentation only to discover that he had been tricked after the duo had left.

He ran after them and caught up with them at St Luke Business Centre.

Siziba demanded back his Itel cellphone and US$60, but Kavumbura and Mapfumo initially refused.

They eventually returned Siziba his phone and only US$30.

A report was made to the police, leading to their arrest.
