A 35-YEAR-OLD Boy Scouts trainer based in Seke, Mashonaland East province, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for aggravated indecent assault and six counts of contravening the Data Protection Act.

In a statement yesterday, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the accused sexually abused boys aged between 10 and 19 years sometime between January 2022 and January 2024.

“The accused used to train the boys karate and would take advantage of their camp days,” said the NPAZ.

“He would instruct them to thoroughly wash themselves, after which he would show them pornographic material on his laptop before indecently assaulting them.”

The matter came to light after one of the victims alerted his parents, leading to a wider investigation of the matter as others opened up on their abuse.
