Driver defrauds InnBucks of US$13K

The court heard that the loan facility required one to apply and physically submit relevant documentation to the satisfaction of the loan facilitator.

A PART-TIME driver with Abro Coaches was on Tuesday arraigned before the Harare Magistrates Court facing allegations of defrauding InnBucks MicroBank of US$13 700.

Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi remanded Cleopas Chisingarambwe (27) to September 9 this year on US$50 bail.

Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira said InnBucks opened a loan facility exclusively for civil servants and the repayment was done through monthly deductions via Salary Service Bureau.

The court heard that the loan facility required one to apply and physically submit relevant documentation to the satisfaction of the loan facilitator.

Chanakira further said the documents which were required included three current payslips, proof of employment and identification documents.

The court heard that Chisingarambwe allegedly connived with Alexio Masasa and Melody Chirodzero who are already on remand.

He fraudulently manufactured documents belonging to various civil servants and applied for loans without their consent.

Acting upon the misrepresentation, InnBucks processed the loans and disbursed them accordingly to the fraudulent accounts supplied by Chisingarambwe.

The offence came to light after various civil servants saw deductions on their payslips and approached the complainant for recourse.

The court heard that InnBucks revisited the applications and discovered that the beneficiary accounts were fraudulent.

InnBucks also noted that the fake accounts used to apply for the loans belonged to Chisingarambwe and his accomplices.

InnBucks is reported to have been prejudiced of US$13 700 and nothing was recovered.
