POLICE in Hurungwe, Mashonaland West province, have launched an investigation into a tragic incident where a local businessman on Friday shot dead his wife before turning the gun on himself.
The two bodies were recovered at the couple’s homestead.
According to sources, the late businessman had returned from the diaspora.
The reasons for the shooting are still unknown.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that investigations were underway.
“The ZRP [Zimbabwe Republic Police] confirms that investigations are underway in connection with a case of suspected murder that occurred in Nkani village, Chief Nematombo, Hurungwe on August 2, 2024. More details will be released in due course once the next of kin of the deceased victims have been duly notified,” Nyathi said.
Sources revealed that the couple was involved in fishery and cattle rearing projects in the rural outskirts of Hurungwe.
