IT never rains but pours for incarcerated businessman Mike Chimombe as his company, Millytake Enterprises (Private) Limited, has been evicted from its Eastlea offices in Harare.
Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu are currently before the courts for allegedly defrauding the government of more than US$7 million meant for the Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme.
The duo is also involved in another scandal with convicted criminal Wicknell Chivayo, where they allegedly corruptly got a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) US$40 million tender to supply electoral materials for the disputed 2023 general elections.
Chimombe’s fortunes are waning as his company Millytake has been kicked out by the new property owner.
It is alleged that the previous property owner had cancelled the lease, but Chimombe refused to vacate.
Millytake Enterprises was registered in 2008 and is owned by Chimombe and Rusero Mitchell.
The company specialises in supplying commercial and industrial equipment.
Their services include construction, property development, economic consulting and research and consulting engineering.

“Even after the new owners came in, they refused to vacate and they approached the courts for the order,” the source said.
A court order dated June 29, gleaned by NewsDay, gives Chimombe 10 days to vacate the premises.
“The first respondent and all those claiming occupation through him are hereby ordered to give vacant possession of Stand 7986 Salisbury Township Lot 1 of Beam Wireless Station Site of Salisbury Township Lands held under Deed of Transfer No 4811/2023 dated June 29, 2023 commonly known as No 5 Morton Jaffray Road, Eastlea, Harare, to the applicant within 10 days of service of this court order,” the court order read.
“In the event of first respondent failing to comply with terms in para l above, the second respondent or his lawful deputy is hereby directed to evict first respondent and all those claiming occupation through him from the afore-mentioned property and give vacant possession of the property to the applicant.
“The first respondent shall pay the applicant’s costs of suit on a legal practitioner client scale.”
Chimombe’s life took a turn for the worse after falling out with Chivayo, who is close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, over sharing of spoils from the Zec tender.
In leaked audios, Chivayo boasted that he has captured Mnangagwa.
Chivayo has been mocking Zimbabweans calling for his arrest.
Chimombe is not new to exposing tender deals when they go wrong.
In 2017, Chimombe’s Millytake Enterprises lodged a complaint against Zec over the US$10 million alleged fraudulent tender awarded to Sanitation Services for the supply of portable toilets during the biometric voter registration exercise.
According to Chimombe’s company, the deal would have cost Zec US$5 million more compared to the lowest bid of US$4,2 million by Millytake Enterprises for the supply of 206 portable toilets.
