Scores of the Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) parliamentary candidates in the last harmonised elections on Sunday invaded rural Chikomba where they held various activities among them donating goods to a local clinic.
The team led by CCC Hwedza South losing parliamentary candidate Valentine Zinhumwe donated blankets and medical accessories at Nhangabwe Clinic in the area before officiating at a soccer tournament held at Chisangano Primary School.
Thousands of villagers thronged the venue where they met the politicians who were drawn from different provinces.
Zinhumwe told NewsDay that the legislators visited the constituency in support of his philanthropic work in the area.
“All the honourables are here to support my philanthropic work. We are here to donate blankets to Nhangabwe Clinic for the benefit of patients and villagers at large,” he said.
“It is good for the politicians to be here so that we share notes on what is to be done in constituencies for the people.”
Some of the opposition party politicians who visited Hwedza South constituency include former CCC legislators Willard Madzimbamuto (Seke) and Pashor Sibanda (Cowdray Park), Blessing Cheza (Chirumhanzu losing candidate) and Budiriro South MP Darlington Chigumbu, among others.
“I hosted this soccer tournament for the constituency and for the youths. They deserve this. Sport unites us and keeps our minds sharp,” Zinhumwe said.
