Eight people were burnt beyond recognition when a Pashonlink bus was reduced to a shell by a fire.

THE Anglican Diocese of Manicaland has released the names of people who lost their lives when a bus they were travelling on was engulfed in a ball of fire along the Nyabandza-Gandanzara Road in Rusape at the weekend.

Eight people were burnt beyond recognition when a Pashonlink bus was reduced to a shell by a fire.

The bus had 65 members of the Anglican Manicaland Diocese Church on board returning from a pilgrimage at Bernard Mizeki shrine in Marondera.

The deceased were identified as Mbuya Gladys Gumiro, Mbuya Winnie Chiremba, Tete Agnes Miti and Mbuya Annie Miti, all congregants of St Theresa Church in Bvumba.

There is also Mbuya Viola Nyambabvu (St John, Zambe) and Bradley Mukwenhe (six months old, from St Theresa Zambe) as well as Mbuya Charity Nyamapfene and Mbuya Margaret Dairo from St Dennis Church, Njerama.

The Manicaland Diocese said a memorial service will be held Thursday June 20 at St Theresa Bvumba “in memory of the deceased and celebrate their lives and legacies”.

“We also request for prayers and thoughts for the survivors of this tragic accident,” the diocese said.

“They need spiritual, psychological and social support.

“We thank God that all the survivors, including the admitted, are recovering well. Rumours of the death of a survivor in hospital are false.”
