Police confirmed the arrest of Kundai Taruvinga at Machipisa shopping centre in Highfield, saying his alleged accomplices are still at large.

A BOGUS police officer was nabbed at the weekend while his two alleged accomplices escaped after they assaulted a Harare man accusing him of trading in foreign currency.

Police confirmed the arrest of Kundai Taruvinga at Machipisa shopping centre in Highfield, saying his alleged accomplices are still at large.

“ZRP reports that Kundai Taruvinga (29) was arrested for impersonating a police officer on 08/06/24 at Machipisa Shopping Centre, Harare. The suspect and his two accomplices purported to be police officers and accused the victim of illegal dealing in foreign currency.

"The trio assaulted the victim before the public intervened and apprehended Kundai Taruvinga. However, his accomplices escaped,” read a police statement released Monday.

Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo are investigating a hit and run road traffic accident which occurred along Rangemore Road, Nkulumane, on Saturday.

According to police, an 85-year-old pedestrian sustained head injuries and a fractured right leg after being hit by an unidentified motorist.

The octogenarian was taken to Mpilo Hospital for treatment.
