Blessing Chatambudza was convicted by Harare regional magistrate Lois Mukunyadze at the close of the State case.

A 21-year-old man from Ruwa has been jailed for 15 years after raping an eight-year-old child.

Blessing Chatambudza was convicted by Harare regional magistrate Lois Mukunyadze at the close of the State case.

Prosecutor Vimbiso Rundare led evidence from the complainant's mother and sister.

Circumstances are that sometime in 2023, the minor was left in the custody of her sister. The convict sent the sister to the shops, and raped the 8-year-old in her absence.

In an unrelated matter, Kudakwashe Chivhunga (22) was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 38-year-old mentally ill woman.

The matter appeared before Harare regional magistrate Lois Mukunyadze.

The complainant’s sister testified in court that she was alerted of the sexual assault on August 27 by the complainant while they were sleeping.

It is alleged that Chivhunga visited the complainant's house and found her alone and allegedly led the complainant to her room where he played pornographic material before raping her.
