Spartan Security boss Luka Fabris has been dragged to court over a US$1 million botched cattle ranching deal.
On Tuesday, Fabris, who was represented by Musindo Hungwe and Joseph Nemaisa, appeared before Harare regional magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka on summons.
The complainant is Leigh Ann Patricia Rudland.
It is the State's case that sometime in 2019, Fabris lured the complainant to invest in the company's cattle ranching business.
The complainant was allegedly promised that he would get 2% returns on her total investment every month and she fell for the deal.
The complainant immediately instructed her lawyers Coglan and
Welsh and Guest to transfer some of her money held in the law firm's trust account into Fabris's bank account.
On March 21, 2019, the complainant's lawyers transferred a sum of ZWL$4 800 000-00 from their Standard Chartered Bank account into the accused's security company's CBZ bank account.
The two agreed that the money was equivalent to US$I 000 000-00 at the
prevailing bank rate then
After completing the transaction, the complainant claimed that she only received
USD$540 000 as returns for her investment as the accused allegedly became evasive.
The complainant then made a police report, leading to Fabris' arrest.
