Professor Bhebe burial set for Saturday

Bhebe, the founding vice chancellor of the Midlands State University, died on Friday last week.

The late national hero and renowned professor, Ngwabi Mulunge Bhebe will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 25, at the National Heroes Acre.

This was revealed in an announcement by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage on Wednesday.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage wishes to advise the Nation that the Late National Hero, Professor Ngwabi Mulunge Bhebe 25 November 2023. His Excellency, The President Cde, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will preside over the burial," read the statement.

Ruling party ZANU PF leadership, cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic community, senior government officials, vice chancellors of the country's universities and the academic community will attend the event.

Bhebe, the founding vice chancellor of the Midlands State University, died on Friday last week.

His body was taken to his rural home in Chiwundura today where the Chiwundura Community bade farewell to one of the country’s Academic heroes.

Meanwhile, mourners are gathered at 266 Mutausi Park, in Gweru.
