Punter drags betting firm to court over payment dispute

REPRESENTATIVES of Bezbets Betting Company were on Thursday brought before Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero facing fraud allegations after they refused to pay US$ 5200 to a punter who had won a bet.

Circumstances are that on October 26 and at Bezbets online platform, the punter alleges that he placed a bet on Roulette with a stack of US$ 394 and won US$ 5200. The punter, whose identity was withheld on ethical grounds, then proceeded to Bezbets Betting Company to withdraw his money.

The firm allegedly refused to pay him the total sum, and instead offered to pay US$1 800.

The court postponed the matter to December 8 for possible trial commencement.
