THE trial of 25 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members who are facing incitement to public violence charges was yesterday deferred at the Harare Magistrate Court to November 14.
The CCC members are being represented by Chris Mhike.
Mhike said some of the accused members were not available for trial, resulting in the matter being deferred.
State prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah alleged that on January 14, the 25 illegally gathered at Budiriro CCC Member of Parliament, Costa Machingauta’s house.
While at the gathering, the group is alleged to have chanted a CCC political party slogan “Ngaapinde hake Mukomana, 2023 Chamisa chete chete.”
Members of ZRP Budiriro received a tip off that the accused were gathered and went to investigate.
Upon arrival, the police allegedly observed that their conduct was disorderly and disturbing public peace. The police ordered them to disperse but they resisted leading to their arrest.
