This emerged at the Harare Civil Court, where Emmanuel Gomeza sought a protection order against Esnath Manyika.

A HARARE woman yesterday accused his estranged husband of physically and emotionally abusing her for failing to bear children during their 10 years in marriage.

This emerged at the Harare Civil Court, where Emmanuel Gomeza sought a protection order against Esnath Manyika.

Gomeza told magistrate Sharon Mashavira that Manyika was his ex-wife and that they separated last year.

He accused her of being violent towards him and breaching his peace.

Manyika denied the allegations. She told Mashavira that she was a victim of abuse for being barren.

“He demands for a child, yet I am barren. I opened up to him when we first met, but he continues to demand that I give him children,” she submitted.

Mashavira dismissed Gomeza’s plea to evict his wife from their matrimonial home.
