Scores of people seeking to sit for provisional driving licence tests at the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) in Eastlea, Harare, have been left stranded, as authorities claim that they have been ordered to stop taking booking payments over an ‘unresolved’ currency dilemma, NewsDay understands.
As at 8am VID cashiers were rejecting the local Zimbabwe currency, accepting only United States dollars. They stopped taking bookings an hour later after receiving a "directive from above."
