Donatella is an Italian name meaning “gift” or “gift of God”.

The 18-track album,  which drops next Friday was produced and engineered by Everything’s Ghost (South Africa) and Procava from Swaziland and featured Brythreesixty, the late Cal_Vin, Asaph, Dopey, Syko Tek, Vic Jita, Asaph and Gunx Dapharoe NguDoni.

“Donatella is a gift from God. Donatella is my beautiful daughter whom I was blessed with by the Almighty and I want to share that gift of God with the rest of the world through music. She is the reason I do what I do every day. I hustle, I work hard in-between shifts, and also do music which is my love and passion,” Mlue Jay said.

“My daughter also loves the music I do and I even featured her on the album. Interestingly when my daughter was born, I was working on the album, and I experimented with sounds and skills that I have not done. All I wanted to do was to honour my daughter with my first album and I am happy that all is set for the launch.”

Mlue Jay urged fellow musicians to utilise the power in collaborations.

“I linked up with talented artists and producers to make this body of work happen. There is power in collaborations, as young creatives we should help each other. If we don’t collaborate, we will perish. I have broadened my skill and collaborations to video making where I’m shooting and editing music videos for others though I’m still trying to perfect the art,” he said.

The album’s leading single Safe, featuring Sykotek and Vic Jita is making waves on national and regional radio stations and the video has been making waves on MTV Base and other prestigious regional television channels. The video also features popular visual artistes Rasta, the painter.
