I generally don’t believe in magic, but, by day, I’m convinced that Mthuli Ncube is a magician.
There’s no way he has managed to pull the wool over people’s faces for this long if he had no magic.
His latest trick is to try and get the local currency more into circulation.
Mthuli dug a big hole for himself when he insisted on US dollar taxes yet preaching the gospel of the Zimbabwean dollar.
Such ambivalence meant people were likely to go for the dollar rather than the local currency.
His latest intervention won’t help much, there’s no point in closing the stables when the horses have long bolted.

I don’t know much about economics, but my guess is that you cannot legislate for people to love a currency.
What is needed is confidence in that currency, but so far, Mthuli and his tag team partner, Panonetsa have literally been doing everything to undermine the currency.
Also, watch out for arbitrage, where some high ups are going to take advantage of the gap between the parallel market rates and the official rate to make even more money.
If Mthuli was not a magician, his stunts would have been seen long back and he would have been called out.
It reminds me of when I was a little girl when magicians would come to our school with their awe inspiring tricks.
Before any act, it is said that they would ask that all boss-eyed people be excused, as such people could see through their tricks.
Maybe we need a boss-eyed person to expose Mthuli, kkk.
Dougie is on a roll. He clearly didn’t want by-elections because he knew he would be trounced.
So, when by-elections were called, he had a new trick up his sleeve, contest the elections as MDC Alliance and maybe, just maybe, confuse the electorate a little and in the process score himself a few votes.
Well, Nero pulled the rug from under his feet, Dougie went to his very deep bag of tricks and he is brewing a new shocker.
He is no longer just the leader of MDC-T, he is also MDC Alliance leader and at the end of the day, he might as well be leader of CCC.
Dougie’s reasoning is that CCC members, who will contest the by elections have not renounced their membership of the MDC Alliance and so he is literally still their leader.
Dougie really wants to force people to love him, like Launchmore and his people bringing the Patriot Bill and the PVO Amendment Bill.
You can’t force people to love you.
Anyway, the MDC constitution says you cease belonging to the party once you join another one, so it really doesn’t make sense for Dougie to be claiming people who have so publicly divorced him.
The fact that Dougie is pursuing this dastardly route is a sign that he is running scared and knows the trouncing that awaits him.
I touched on the PVO Amendment Bill a bit, let me expand.
Twenty odd years ago, the NGO Bill was brought before Baba and he refused to engage with it.
At that time Baba had every reason to push ahead with such a Bill as fears of regime change were real.
NGOs were running amok and everyone feared that the end was nigh for Baba and Zanu PF.
The easy thing for Baba was to sign the bill into law, but he didn’t despite the fact that it would tilt issues in his favour.
And yet some of you have the guts to call Baba a dictator.
Enter Launchmore; the regime change agenda has died down somewhat and he is dining with the Brits and travelling to Switzerland, stuff that Baba could only dream of in his last days.
Launchmore has resuscitated the patently draconian NGO Bill that Baba refused to sign and called it the PVO Amendment Bill.
This is one of the biggest assaults on freedom of association in a generation and there is need to scale back before irreversible damage is done to this country and it’s future.
Susan Mutami — her of the Temba Mliswa fame — is busy dishing out nuggets on Twitter.
She’s on a solo mission to expose corruption in government. Whether there’s a method to the madness is anyone’s guess.
But in all her tales, the hero seems to be SB Moyo, the coup announcer.
I can’t say much about her tweets at the moment, I’m still investigating.
But the one about Launchmore’s child and Russian investors is one that I will keep an eye on.
