RISING gospel sensation Marbel Jeanry Madondo, who recently released her second album, Many Shades of MJ, said she has continued to draw inspiration from her late sister, Jackie Madondo.
Jackie, who was well-known for the hit track Mazuva Acho, died from injuries sustained in a car accident in 2004.
Marble told NewsDay Life & Style that losing her sister at a young age had given her the strength to continue pursuing her music career.
“Losing my sister at a young age and having to figure out life without her as a pillar of strength gives me the inspiration to continue singing until I reach the level that my sister had reached and to release more albums,” she said.
Madondo said her new album was a hybrid of cross-cutting music genres.
“In this album, basically, there are different elements put into one place in different genres, but making sure everyone enjoys a little part or the entire album,” she said.
The album is packed with 12 songs including Seasons, Akasika Munhu, Kana Wochema, Don’t Count Me Out, Simuka Zimbabwe, Try Again, Dance and Praise, Rudo Rwakadai, Mutsvene, Husingapere, Hay Now and Moyo Wangu.

Madondo said she worked with three producers on the album — Chiweddar, Ellah Bass and Victor Stot — to give it various flavours.
