MUTARE-BASED hip-hop group, Southside Squad has released a new video titled Matimati and has a Nigerian beat.
Shot in the gold-rich area of Odzi, at a Mutare hotel the video is trending on social media and has registered 1 500 views on YouTube a few hours after being posted.
The video was financed by Apostle Joe Daniels of Gateway Church, who was impressed by the quartet’s talent.
The outfit is made up of Tatenda “Young Stlez” Manda (26), Owen “Gemboi” Tampumanei, lan “Iyan Boy” Kamusika and Collins “Strayt” George.
In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Gemboi who is part of the group expressed gratitude to Apostle Daniels for extending financial support and allowing them to work in his studio.
“We could not have done this project without Apostle’s support,” he said.
Apostle Daniels said he is committed to help upcoming artists in the country.
