A Zimbabwean entrepreneur based in South Africa Nyasha Chisoko who won the Female Personality of the Year Award at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards

A ZIMBABWEAN entrepreneur based in South Africa has scooped the Female Personality of the Year Award at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA).

ZAA awards recognise Zimbabweans based in the diaspora for outstanding and notable achievements.

Nyasha Chisoko joins the list of previous winners such as Hollywood actress Danai Gurira for The Walking Dead TV Series and Black Panther; Chipo Chung as well as Luthuli Dhlamini of South Africa's TV series Generations.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Chisoko expressed joy for winning the award, ahead of other high profile nominees.

“I am truly humbled and overjoyed to have received the Female Personality of the Year 2024 Award, especially considering the three incredible women I was nominated alongside with who are extremely talented and have excelled in their respective fields. To be honest when I saw their profiles, I thought winning was a long shot! But I reminded myself to be grateful for the nomination and the recognition that came with it,” Chisoko.

Other nominees for the award were  Tsitsi Chawasarira, a former Zimpraise vocalist, song writer, talk show host, brand ambassador and entrepreneur,  Shaleen Nullens aka Ms Shally, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees founding member, Women Business Network co-founder and BET awards planner and Erica Ndoro, radio and TV talk show host, voice-over artist and corporate director of ceremonies.

“This award isn't just a personal victory; it's a reminder to all the ladies out there that nothing is impossible. Our dreams can become reality with persistence, passion and a willingness to learn and grow. I'm living proof that dreams do come true and I hope my story inspires others to chase theirs with confidence and courage,” Chisoko said.

The awards were held on November 30 at the Radisson Blue Hotel, Sandton, South Africa.

The businesswoman owns a three-year-old diaper bag company, MAZH Babies and is a retailer in one of South Africa's biggest luxury stores, Chelino Baby which is found   in all provinces.

It was also recently featured in British Vogue and Glamour UK.

Chisoko, a self-taught photographer and content creator, also has a beauty studio that has been a successful one-stop shop for all the ladies beauty requirements.

“Winning this award is a surreal moment that validates the hard work, resilience and dedication I've poured into my craft over the years. It's a testament to the power of perseverance and faith, and I'm so grateful to have had God by my side throughout this journey,” she said.
