THE Kwantuthu Comedy Festival has partnered Mrs Sinkwa Bread, an emerging bakery, in scaling up the October breast cancer month awareness campaign.

In a statement, the festival director Dumisani “MaForty” Ndlovu encouraged the public to support this well-meaning cause by purchasing Mrs Sinkwa bread, as a portion of the funds will be channelled towards cancer programmes.

“Through this collaboration, the festival will actively participate in the breast cancer awareness campaign spearheaded by Mrs Sinkwa, we urged the public to support this meaningful cause by purchasing Mrs Sinkwa bread since a portion of the funds from bread sales will be donated to cancer patients and the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo,” Ndlovu said. According to France 24, over 360 000 people are diagnosed with cancer yearly, while many die of it without being diagnosed at all.

It is, therefore, a global effort to raise awareness of the menace through dedicating the month of October to educating those concerned about the disease, including early identification and signs and symptoms associated.

This has seen the new partnership between Kwantuthu Comedy Festival and Mrs Sinkwa in an effort to intensify the awareness.

Kwantuthu Comedy Festival will have its activities at the Bulawayo Theatre, from today and tomorrow, with Mrs Sinkwa Bread exhibiting its products during the festival.

“Mrs Sinkwa Bread will also be available for tasting and purchase throughout the festival, with a portion of the sales contributing to raising funds for this important campaign,” Ndlovu said.

Ndlovu revealed that they would be adding a stand-up comedy act in the theatre night programme in the form of a newcomer, Tumeliso Mulunjwana, who will be performing for the first time.

The fete will see the first day set for theatre, and day two for high school short film screening.
